Defying Gravity: I created this picture off of one of my favorite songs from the album "Defying Gravity" When I listened to this song, I knew i wanted to take a more literal approach and make myself seem as if I'm floating. My favorite part of this photo is the way my dress is wrapped around my legs as if it was floating in a way.
Thanks Goodness: This photo was taken from the song "Thank Goodness" For this photo, I took a specific line "I couldn't be happier" as inspiration for this photo. While the song may seem bright and cheery, there is a sadder meaning behind the words that are sung. When I heard of the line "I couldn't be happier" I was looking at the yellow flowers seen in the photo. I thought about how yellow was happy, and posed for the photo. The lighting worked out perfectly, making not only the yellow pop, but my eye as well.
For Good: This photo was inspired by the song "For Good" Its the song that the two best friends sing saying that because they knew each other, their lives were changed for good. I used my best friend as an inspiration, I always wanted to take photos of the back of us doing funny things like peace signs and hearts with our hands. My best friend wasn't able to help me with the actual picture, so I had to create our friendship using me... twice!
No One Mourns The Wicked: This photo was based of the song "No One Mourns the Wicked" I like how the photo is almost slanted in a way, because depression or sadness becomes disorientating. I wanted the picture to be dark, because although the song is about no one mourning the wicked, there are few who actually hurt to think of the 'wicked' being gone forever.
Dancing Through Life: This photo was based off the song "Dancing Through Life" I took a literal approach and took a picture of me dancing (or at least attempting to dance as I'm not actually a dancer) I really a simple picture of someone dancing for this photo because dancing is something I've always been amazed by, and throughout the song its a way to move throughout life.
Something Bad: The inspiration of this photo was the song "Something Bad" although the song is talking about the insane things the government is doing to animals, I heard something bad and immediately thought of somebody doing something bad and being punished for it, therefore the picture in the stripes and in handcuffs.
A couple weeks ago, I had the opportunity to create a concentration based off a musical album. The musical Wicked is one of my favorite musicals, and I pretty much listen to its music on a daily basis. Therefore, when I was given the opportunity to create this, I choose Wicked as my inspiration. Above are 6 out of the 12 photos I created for this concentration.

I love the "no one mourns the wicked" picture. The black and white makes it really pop, and I like the emotion in the picture. Wicked is one of my favorite soundtracks, and you did a great job!!
ReplyDeleteI thought you were really creative with your representation of each song. Your picture for "No one mourns the wicked" really captures the emotion of the song. I also love your killer photoshop on "Defying gravity". Nice work!
